A message from host Margaret Griffith (contact Margaret at firstname.lastname@example.org):
Location: Little Cranberry Island, Maine (town of Islesford) There is a strong artist community, 2 galleries and 1 restaurant. To paint: views of Cadillac Mountain, vintage boat houses, lobster boats galore, sail boats, cool houses,... it is infinite.
Getting there: The closest airports are Bar Harbor, Bangor, and Portland.
Ferry to island: Mail boat leaving from Southwest Harbor, Manset, or Northeast Harbor. Details to follow. The island is small and everyone either walks or gets around by golf cart.
Students will be staying in either my home or another we have rented. It is Maine 100% with the lobster boats waking you up each day."
Workshop Details: 3 1/2 days. Monday, September 17 - Thursday, September 20. Plan to arrive the day before and to depart Friday.
Cost of workshop: $950 for workshop and a single room, $850 for workshop and a double room (I know that is only a $100 reduction but the double rooms are pretty big and all but one of the singles are small.)
*note - price does not include meals but there are kitchens in both homes as well as a restaurant on the island. Margaret will be stocking homes with coffee, milk, juice, and some of the basics like blueberry muffins.
This workshop will be limited to 12 students.
A nonrefundable deposit of $150 should be made before March 25, 2018 to reserve your spot. Final payment will be due by April 1, 2018 .
Please understand that Maine is a bit rustic. The homes are both quite old but loaded with character! The island has one restaurant, a small grocery spot with only the very basics, a post office, a musuem, and a gallery. There are lots of day visitors so be prepared to paint in front of some tourists here and there. We will be painting in some spots where we may need to walk in a bit so be prepared!
